Southington Woman Charged After Wild Car Chase: Warrant

A Southington woman is accused of being involved in a wild car chase.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington woman is facing a number of charges for a wild incident in the middle of traffic that police are considering domestic violence.

On Tuesday at 3:45 p.m., Cheryl Lindsay, 55, of Southington, was arrested on an domestic violence warrant after a traffic stop, police said.

Lindsay was processed and charged with second-degree stalking, unsafe passing, reckless driving, the misuse of the 911 system, second-degree falsely reporting an incident, and second-degree false statement, police said.

She appeared in court on Wednesday and her case was continued until Oct. 27, according to judicial system records.

She has posted a $10,000 bond, court records indicate.

According to an arrest warrant, Lindsay was operating a vehicle on North Main Street on Sept, 2 when she observed the "victim" drive past her in the opposite direction.

Lindsay then turned her vehicle around and attempted to catch up with the victim’s vehicle. The woman turned onto Lazy Lane with Lindsay following her vehicle, police.

While traveling on Lazy Lane, Lindsay allegedly crossed the double yellow lines, "fully entered the opposite
travel lane," passed the woman's vehicle and narrowly escaped a head on collision with oncoming traffic, police.

The woman then went to Southington police headquarters to report the incident, police said.

The, about six minutes later, Lindsay called 911 and told police the woman was following her, was harassing her and almost hit her vehicle while illegally passing her, according to a report.

Lindsay is accused of provided two "voluntary false sworn and signed statements detailing the incident," police said.

An investigator was able to pull video from different businesses along the route to disprove Lindsay’s claim, according to a report.
