Southington Woman Gets Probation for Fatal Crash

The crash took place in Bristol last fall.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Southington woman involved in a fatal motorcycle crash last fall has entered a no contest plea in the case and will now be on probation for two years, court records indicate.

Crystaly Acevedo, 20, of Hart St., Southington, was charged on Feb. 9 with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and failure to grant the right of way, according to court records. She entered the plea in court on Wednesday, records indicate.

The crash took place on Nov. 27. According to court and police records, Acevedo was traveling west on Farmington Avenue in Bristol. She made a left-hand turn onto King Place and collided with a motorcycle driven by Corey Cuvelier, 34, of Bristol. Cuvelier died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to police records.

Acevedo was given a six-month suspended sentence with the probation, according to court records. Court records also show she must perform 100 hours of community service. The moving violation charge was nolled, according to court records.
