Southington YMCA Honoring Several Community Servants
Tickets go on sale Wednesday, Jan. 8, for the Southington Community YMCA's annual meeting/awards dinner on Feb. 19.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Tickets for the Southington Community YMCA's biggest fundraising event go on sale Wednesday, Jan. 8, with several in the community expected to be honored.
The community is invited to the 96th Southington Community YMCA Annual Meeting and Awards Recognition Dinner.
The event will take place Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 5:30 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, 556 Mulberry St.

There, the YMCA will honor the YMCA Person of the Year and recipients of the Y's Youth Development, Healthy Living, Social Responsibility, and Youth Leadership awards.
Tickets are $50 per person.

The Southington Community YMCA will recognize the following individuals and organizations for their work in the community:
• YMCA Person of the Year — Melissa Sheffy. Presented to a member of the Southington community who through his/her actions makes Southington a better place to live.
• Youth Development Award —Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington. Presented to an individual or group who have worked to nurture the potential of youth and/or teens.
• Health Living Award — Southington Library Board. Presented to an individual or group who have improved the health and well-being of the residents and/or employees of Southington.
• Social Responsibility Award — Leading Ladies of Southington. Presented to an individual or group that has motivated people to support their neighbors and the larger community.
• Youth Leadership Award — Katie Cavanaugh and Luke Wolf. Presented to local high school-age students who display leadership qualities and are making positive contributions in our community.
"As always we have another great group of award winners this year. Their impact on Southington has been outstanding and all are worthy of recognition. Southington is blessed to have so many valuable leaders and businesses that give back for the betterment of the community" said Mark Pooler, chief executive officer of the Southington-Cheshire Community YMCAs.
