Southington YMCA Very Close To Reaching Icy Plunge Goal
The Southington Community YMCA's 'Sloper Plunge' raised 97 percent of its $100K Goal, With Time Left To Reach And Exceed The Mark.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Officials with the Southington Community YMCA were more than pleased with the turnout and spirit at the annual Sloper Plunge fundraiser last Saturday, Feb. 22.
But they came up ever so short and, as funny 1960s spy Maxwell Smart would have said, they "missed it by that much."
No need to worry, however, as the YMCA is still collecting donations.

According to the "Y" on Tuesday, the effort has reached 97 percent toward its $100,000 fundraising goal.
But it still needs about $3,000 or more to reach and, hopefully, exceed their goal.

Regardless, the Sloper Plunge was a great effort, as YMCA officials, staff members, and a litany of community volunteers jumped in the icy waters at Camp Sloper, a summer camp located at 1000 East St.
Their objective was to raise money for camp scholarships, aiming to ensure that those who want to attend camp this summer can.
YMCA officials estimated that more than 200 volunteers plunged into the icy waters. "
"We have a little more fundraising to do in order to reach our goal of 100k," wrote the Southington Community YMCA. "We are still accepting donations in honor of the brave plungers and teams that participated."
