Southington's Bennett Throws His Way To The Podium At WPI

He received athlete of the week honors.

SOPUTHINGTON, CT - Matthew Bennett of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute track and field team has been selected as the WPI co-male student-athlete of the week for the week ending Sunday, April 17.

Bennett racked up 17 of the throwers' 49 points to help propel WPI past Springfield and Coast Guard Saturday.

The sophomore won the discus (136-0, 41.45m) and was the runner up in the shot put (46-8.75, 14.24m) and hammer throw (140-0, 42.68m). He ranks second in the discus and shot, and sixth in the hammer among NEWMAC competition.
