Southington's Blue Knights Marching Band hosts a first class competition

Blue Knights Marching Band, marching band competition

The 25th running of the Music of the Knight was held this past Saturday, at Southington High School. The event brought in 17 other high school marching bands from Massachusetts and Connecticut, including groups from Trumbull, Cheshire, Bristol and New Milford. The day kicked off with performances by the local middle school musicians from JFK and DePaolo. The event finished with an exhibition performance by the Blue Knights Marching band. The day long event was a display of Southington pride at its best. Over 200 family/parent volunteers worked throughout the day to host the visiting groups. Approximately 400 middle school musicians opened the event. And at the end of the night, more than 50 SHS marching band alumni escorted the Blue Knights onto the field to start their show. The Blue Knights marching band will now move on to the last 3 weeks of their competitive season. Their final competition will be at Nationals, at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, on November 11.
