Southington's Buchanan Nabs Little East Honor For Eastern
Kerry-Rose Buchanan was recently named the Little East Conference Swimmer of the Week.

WILLIMANTIC, CT — Eastern Connecticut State University swimmer and Southington resident Kerry-Rose Buchanan was recently named the Little East Conference Swimmer of the Week.
Buchanan won three individual events and swam a leg of a winning relay when the Warriors closed out the regular season with home wins over Bridgewater State University (166-94) and Gordon College (194-62) Saturday on Senior Day.
Buchanan won the 100 (58.89), 500 (5:48.63) and 1,000 freestyle (11:45.65) events, using a finishing kick to edge Olivia Ranck (5:48.85) in the 500 and winning the 1,000 for the third straight time with a 66-second win over Olivia Pelletier of Bridgewater.

Buchanan was also the lead on the winning 200 freestyle relay team, which posted the second-fastest time this season (1:47.82) in the Little East Conference.
The weekly LEC honor is her third this season and gives the women’s program a total of five this season. The women closed out the season with a 7-3 dual-meet record and won the USJ Blue Jay Pentathlon to open the season. The Warriors compete in the Little East Conference Championships Feb. 20-22 at the Boston Sports Institute.
