Southington's GOP, Dems Pick Their 2023 Election Slates

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington Democrats and Republicans met last week and have ironed out an endorsed slate of municipal hopefuls for the November elections.

The Southington Democratic Town Committee endorsed 20 candidates for several different board and commission races being decided this year.

Meanwhile, the Southington Republican Town Committee endorsed 20 as well.

The GOP controls many town boards and commissions, including the town council and school board.

Elections are on Tuesday, Nov. 7.

The following were endorsed by the GOP:

• Southington Town Council: Paul Chaplinsky Jr.; Michael DelSanto; William Dziedzic; Jim Morelli; Jennifer Clock; and Tony Morrison.

• Southington Board of Education: Colleen Clark; Jasper Williams; Cecil Whitehead; James Chrzanowski; Sean Carson; and Joseph Baczewski.

• Southington Board of Finance: Joseph Labieniec; John Leary; Ed Pocock Jr.; and Wayne Stanforth.

• Southington Planning and Zoning Commission: Todd Chaplinsky and Rob Britton.

• Southington Board of Water: Ron Lamoreaux Jr. and Domenic Perone.

According to the local GOP's party platform, Southington Republicans "believe in progress and performance, not empty promises and propoganda."

The local Republicans aim to "provide leadership committed to bringing forth solutions to the problems forced upon us from state and federal legislators."

The following were endorsed by Dems:

• Southington Town Council: Valerie DePaulo; Jack Perry; Christopher Palmieri; Steve Salerno; Edward Pocock III; and David Zoni.

• Southington Board of Education: Roberet Brown; Lisa Cammuso; Terri Carmody; David Derynoski; Zaya Oshana; and Annie Wellington.

• Southington Planning and Zoning Commission: Katrina Caird; Caleb Cowles; and Bill Knoegel.

• Southington Board of Finance: Kevin Beudoin; Efrosini Moutogiannis; Chris Robertson; and Candice Mazzerella.

• Southington Board of Water: Robert Berkmoes.

"This slate of candidates is the most experienced group of problem solvers ever assembled for the town council.” said Erin Cowles, Southington Democratic Town Committee chairperson.

"These are candidates that care about civic engagement, solving problems by working in a bipartisan manner and implementing fiscally responsible policies- in other words, being strong leaders."
