Southington's Premier Literary Event Now Finalized
Southington Public Library officials released details about the 2025 'Southington Reads' program that culminates in March.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — One of the most eagerly anticipated events on the Southington literary calendar has been finalized and registration for it starts next week.
The Southington Public Library has announced that "Southington Reads 2025" will be held at the Aqua Turf Club on Thursday, March 13, at 7 p.m. with national and international bestselling author Juliet Grames.

Registration will open for the free program on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 9:30 a.m.
Those interested in going can call the library at 860-628-0947 ext. 5 to register or visit the library website, southingtonlibrary.org, and click on the Southington Reads graphic.

As always, this event is free and open to all.
A native Nutmegger, Grames was born in Hartford and raised in the Farmington Valley.
She attended Corpus Christi College at the University of Oxford and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia College with a degree in history before embarking on a career in book publishing.
Since 2010 she has worked at Soho Press, where she is editorial director.
Her debut novel, "The Seven or Eight Deaths of Stella Fortuna," was shortlisted for the New England Book Award and the Connecticut Book Award, and received Italy’s Premio Cetraro for contribution to Southern Italian literature.
It has been translated into nine languages.
Her essays and short fiction have appeared in Best American Mystery & Suspense, Real Simple, Parade, Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, and the Boston Globe, among other venues.
In 2022, she was the recipient of the Mystery Writers of America Ellery Queen Award for her editorial work in the crime fiction genre.
A limited number of copies of Grames' latest novel, "Lost Boy of Santa Chionia," and her debut novel will be available for checkout at the circulation desk beginning Thursday, Feb. 13.
People can also access these titles in e-book or e-audio via the Connecticut State Library’s Palace Project App with a Southington library card.
The Southington Public Library annually selects a "Southington Reads" book and encourages all members of the community to read this and others by the featured author.
Past authors include Ayana Mathis, Elise Hooper, and Spencer Quinn.
