Southington's Top Concert Band Putting On Really Big Show July 1
The Southington Symphonic Band's 2024 Summer Concert will take place in nearby Cheshire on Monday, July 1.

SOUTHINGTON/CHESHIRE, CT — Fourth of July festivities start early next week in Southington, with the town's popular concert band putting on a musical showcase of patriotism Monday, July 1.
The Southington Symphonic Band will present its summer concert on Monday, July 1, at 7 p.m. at the Calvary Life Family Worship Center, 174 East Johnson Ave., in nearby Cheshire.

The summer concert repertoire includes selections by John Williams, Leonard Bernstein, John
Philip Sousa and Dmitri Shostakovich.
No tickets are necessary, but donations will be accepted.

The Southington Symphonic Band, directed by former Southington High School band director
Jeff Shaw was established in January 2023.
Its members include former SHS band members and band parents, local music teachers, and players from Southington and neighboring communities.
Musicians high school age or older who play a band instrument are welcome to join the
Southington Symphonic Band.
There are openings in all sections.
After the summer concert, rehearsals will resume on Mondays from 7 to 9 p.m. in late August.
