UPDATE: Southington PD Continue Investigation of Home Invasion Shooting

Police: A trio of masked gunmen forced their way into the victim's home.

Southington Police remain at the scene of a home invasion in which a man was shot in his Meriden Waterbury Turnpike home Monday night.

Police said Tuesday morning that “an active investigation” continues into the shooting of Daniel Morin, 43, of 735 Meriden Waterbury Tpk. who called the Southington Police Department to report that he was a victim of a home invasion at approximately 6:41 p.m. Jan. 4.

According to police, “Morin and a female were inside his home ... when three individual dressed all in black with gloves and masks forced their way into the home. All three individuals had handguns. Morin attempted to confront the intruders and an altercation ensued. During the altercation, one of the intruders fired two shots. Morin was struck in the upper arm.”

Police also said, “The intruders moved about the house before fleeing on foot. Officers responded with a K-9 unit and checked the area. The suspects were not located.”

Morin suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police said, “It is unknown what if anything was taken from the home. Detectives remain on scene and the investigation is active.”

Police were busy late Monday night searching for three home invasion suspects after a resident was shot on Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike while in his home.

The 43-year-old resident got into a scuffle with one home invader and received a non-life threatening gunshot injury to the arm, according to NBC Connecticut.

The suspects were still at large as of 11:45 p.m. Monday.
