Stolen Vacuums, Music Lead to Southington Arrest

A woman has been charged for allegedly stealing household appliances and the music to keep her entertained while using them to clean.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A woman has been charged for allegedly stealing household appliances and the music to keep her entertained while using them to clean.

On Wednesday, Cerena Stimpson, 23, of Waterbury, was arrested for fifth-degree larceny and

interfering with an officer, police said. The charges stemmed from an incident at the Southington Target store in which she exited the store without paying for two vacuum cleaners, assorted DVDs and electronics, police said.

During the initial stages of the investigation, Stimpson lied to police about her identity.

Stimpson was held on a $5,000 bond and was to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Aug. 24, 2017.
