As Sun Shines, Southington Seeks Snow Contractors
The town is soliciting bids for snow removal jobs on town roads/parking lots, as well as school walkways.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — And now we can say summer is over.
If the opening of schools and the passing of the Labor Day holiday were not enough reminders that cold weather is coming, recent bid solicitations by the town should drive home that point.
Currently, the Town of Southington is seeking bids and looking for contractors to remove snow and ice from town parking lots and some streets, as well as school access walks.

The work will be for the 2022-23 winter season.
There are two separate bids being solicited, one for the parking lots and streets and the other for the school access walks.

Bids will be accepted at the Office of the Town Manager, 75 Main St., Southington, CT 06489, until 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at which time they will be opened and read publicly.
Specifications and bid sheets may be obtained at the Southington Highway/Parks Department Garage, DellaBitta Drive, Plantsville, CT 06479, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or at www.southington.org.
All bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope marked "SNOW REMOVAL - SCHOOL ACCESS WALKS 2022-2023" or "SNOW PLOWING & REMOVAL - TOWN STREETS AND PARKING LOTS 2022-2023."
Of course, while contractors are hoping for a snowy — and lucrative winter — those who don't love snow are hoping their services won't be needed.
And summer doesn't officially end until Sept. 22.
