Suspected Bank Robber Charged in Southington

A bank robbery suspect has been arrested in Southington, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A suspect in a December robbery at a TD Bank branch in Southington is under arrest, police said.

On Tuesday, Zachary Provost, 32, of Waterbury, was taken into custody at Bristol Superior Court on an

outstanding warrant for his arrest, police said. He has been charged with first-degree robbery, criminal impersonation, and sixth-degree larceny from a a bank robbery on Dec. 1 at the TD Bank, 121 Main St., Southington.

That day, at 11:14 a.m., a man entered the bank and attempted to conduct a transaction using another person’s identification, police said.

When the transaction was declined, the man presented a note to the teller demanding money while claiming to have a weapon, police said.

The man then left the bank with approximately $350 in cash. He was later identified as Provost, police said.

No weapon was used or displayed and no one was injured, police said.

Provost is also a suspect in bank robberies in both Putnam and Avon in Connecticut; and in Nashua, NH; and Shrewsbury, MA, police said.

He was being held on a a $250,000 bond and was to appear in court Tuesday, police said.
