Tavern 42 Clears A Regulatory Hurdle For Deck
The restaurant is slated to open in the summer.

SOUTHINGTON —The new Tavern 42 restaurant, scheduled to open this summer in Plantsville at the former Hearthstone, will be able to serve liquor on an outdoor deck, the Record-Journal reported.
The Zoning Board of Appeals approved not only liquor service but a variance for the deck itself.
The restaurant’s owners still need Planning and Zoning Commission approval for the deck and a state liquor permit. They needed a variance to build a deck overlooking the river since it’s closer to the property line than usually allowed in the zone. Appeals board members said the building which dates to the 1800s is built close to the property line and allowed the exception.
