Teen Caught With Knife in Car At Southington Park

He was one of three hiding out on a local park after hours, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A teenager wound up with a weapons after he was caught hiding in a local park, police said.

At about 8 p.m. on Friday, an officer was conducting a routine after-hours check of Panthorn Park, 485 Burritt St., when he came across a truck occupied by three people in the uppermost parking lot, police said in a report.

The truck was parked to the side of several tree service bucket trucks as if to hide from plain view, according to a report.

The officer located a small amount of marijuana and a large knife — an 11..5-inch, military style blade — in the truck, according to a report.

Christopher Descoteaux, 18, of Southington, was taken into custody, transported to Southington Police Headquarters and charged with possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle and being in a park after hours. Descoteaux was released on a $5,000 bond and given an appearance date of Aug. 15 in Bristol Superious Court, a report indicates.

Alexander Johnson-Barnes, 19, of Southington was issued an infraction ticket for possession of
less than a half-ounce of marijuana, police said.

The third person in the truck was a juvenile and was not charged with any violations, police said.
