Teen Charged With First-Degree Sexual Assault in Southington

A teen was charged for a July incident with a minor, Southington police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police on Tuesday said they have arrested an 18-year-old from Meriden on a first-degree sexual assault charge.

On Aug. 30, Julio Bonilla, 18, of Meriden surrendered at the Southington Police Department
on an outstanding warrant, police said,

The warrant charged Bonilla with first-degree sexual assault, risk of Injury to a minor, first-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree false statement, police said.

The warrant stemmed from an incident that occurred in July during which Bonilla allegedly had a sexual encounter with a minor, police said.

Bonilla posted a $350,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Sept. 11, police said.
