Teen Gang Charged In CVS Raid In Southington: Police

The five juveniles were charged last week and were also apprehended in a stolen vehicle out of Bridgeport.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A teen gang of five was charged by Southington police in connection with an organized shoplifting incident at a local CVS store last week.

According to a release issued by the Southington Police Department Thursday evening, the incident happened at about 12:48 a.m. on June 17 at the CVS store/pharmacy on 326 Main St., Southington.

Police said it was reported four males entered the store wearing masks and shoplifted items from the CVS.

According to police, witnesses said the males had left the scene in a white Nissan sedan and were traveling north on Main Street.

As police searched the area, they found the vehicle at the Exxon Gas Station on 628 Queen St. and it was occupied by five juveniles aged 15-17.

They were all detained without incident.

According to the SPD, it was learned the Nissan Altima had a registration that matched one of the vehicles stolen in Bridgeport on June 16.

Police verified the juveniles' involvement in the CVS incident after reviewing surveillance footage via closed-circuit television.

The five teens were released to their guardians before they appeared in Bridgeport Juvenile Court on June 21.

One juvenile was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle; third-degree larceny; sixth-degree larceny; and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

A second juvenile was charged with sixth-degree larceny; conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny; and interfering with a police officer.

The third and fourth juveniles were both charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

A fifth juvenile was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

Because of their ages, police did not identify the juvenile suspects involved in the case.
