The trio was released into the custody of their parents and will appear in juvenile court, police said.

Police said in a Thursday afternoon release that, shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday, the SPD received a notification on the department's FLOCK license plate reader system that a gray Honday Accord out of New Britain was wanted for improper use of registration.

Officers located the vehicle near the center of town and followed it to the Wendy's at 328 Queen St., Southington, police said.

Police converged on the vehicle and took the four suspects in custody, finding in "plain view" a "large amount" of marijuana packaged for sale.

The quartet was transported to the SPD and New Britain police were contacted.

Police said no injuries were reported, but the suspect's vehicle did ram a Southington police vehicle, causing minor damage.
