Torrington Man Charged For DVD Player Pants Incident At Southington Target
He tried to sneak the equipment out while hiding it in his pants, police said.
SOUTHINGTON, CT - A 28-year-old Torrington man is facing a pair of charges for an incident last month during which he tried to sneak electronics equipment out of the local Target store in his pants, police said.
Southington police had an outstanding arrest warrant for Joshua Lataif for the March 16 incident and on Tuesday, he was picked up by Torrington police and transferred to Southington police headquarters, according to a news release.
He was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny, according to a news release.

According to the warrant, Lataif was in the Target store at 600 Executive Blvd. in Southington.
As Lataif was being watched by the store's loss prevention staff, he allegedly concealed a DVD and a DVD player in his pants, according to the warrant. He then headed toward the front of the store, pushing a shopping cart, according to the warrant.

Lataif then abandoned the shopping cart near the front of the store and proceeded past "all points of sale" without attempting to pay for the DVD player, which was still concealed in his pants, according to the warrant.
When confronted by the loss prevention staff, Lataif "broke free" and climbed into a waiting vehicle, according to the warrant
