Tractor-Trailer Hits Building In Southington

A building in the Plantsville section of Southington was damaged by a tractor-trailer on Tuesday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A tractor-trailer hit a building during a delivery in the Plantsville section of Southington on Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The truck had made a delivery at Dean's Stove & Spa, which occupies and old factory at 120 West Main St., police said. It was 3:31 p.m. and the delivery had already been made, but the truck hit an awning-type structure that connects two sections of the building in the process of leaving, police said.

There was considerable damage to the building and trailer, but no injuries were reported, according to police. Gas and electric utilities checked out fine at the scene, police said.

The business was able to stay open.

The building inspector and police department are still investigating the crash, police said.
