Trio Arrested at Southington Cell Phone Kiosk

They were trying to get phones through illegal means, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Two New York City residents and another from just over the city line were oinched for trying to get mobile phones with fake names, police said.

On Wednesday at 2:02 p.m., officers responded to the BJ's Wholesale Club for a report of a female attempting to fraudulently obtain cellular phones from the Verizon Wireless Kiosk.

The total amount of merchandise that she was trying to purchase was $ 2,120, police said. The woman was attempting to purchase two Apple IPhone 7 Plus valued at $880 each and $240 in accessory bundles, police said.

The woman, later identified as Denise Cabrera, was using a false identification card while attempting to acquire the phones and when approached by the responding officers, Cabrera gave them a driver’s license belinging to someone else, police said.

When questioned again, Cabrera gave another false name and false address to officers, police said.

Police said that Cabrera, Edward De Los Angeles and Antonio Radhames allegedly went to the store to fraudulently obtain the cell phones and that De Los Angeles and Radhames allegedly provided Cabrera with the fraudulent information.

Cabrera, 19 of New York City, was charged with criminal impersonation, third-degree identity theft, criminal attempt at third-degree larceny and interfering with officers, police said. She was held on a $5,000 bond and was to appear in court on Thursday, police said.

De Los Angeles, 26, of The Bronx, was charged with conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, police said. He was held on a $2,500 bond and was to appear in court Thursday, police said.

Radhames, 23 of Yonkers, NY was processed for conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny, police said. Radhames was held on a $2,500 bond and was to appear in court on Thursday, police said.
