Understanding Lymphedema program examines management strategies

PROSPECT - The World Health Organization estimates that over 250 million people worldwide live with lymphedema or chronic swelling. This disease, that affects the arms and legs, can cause pain, limit our mobility and negatively affect the quality of life. A free program, “Understanding Lymphedema,” on Tuesday, June 18 will provide information about the causes and effects, management techniques and how skilled occupational and physical therapy can help. The event will be held at 10 a.m. at Prospect Senior Center, 6 Center St. Presenter will be Theresa Plant, occupational therapist, Hartford Hospital Rehabilitation Network.
