Update: Victim Identified in Fatal I-691 Crash

More details on this morning's fatal accident from state police.

A Waterbury man was killed after his car slid under a tractor trailer during an accident on I-691 Monday morning.

The accident occurred on I-691 eastbound before 8 a.m.

The tractor trailer was traveling left lane in the area of exit 4, according to State Police. It began slowing down for congestion when it was struck in the rear by a Ford Explorer.

The Explorer slid under the trailer section of the truck and was stuck. Hector Ramos, 52, of Waterbury suffered fatal injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt and his airbag did go off.

The driver of the truck didn’t have any apparent injuries.

The accident is still under investigation. The highway was closed and then partially open for hours. It fully opened again before 10:30 a.m.
