Valentine's Day Blaze Probed In Southington: FD
The fire happened at a local apartment complex, damaging two separate units on Wednesday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The local fire marshal is investigating the cause of a Valentine's Day blaze at a Southington apartment complex that damaged two units, but didn't injure anyone.
According to the Southington Fire Department, the fire occurred at about 10:50 a.m. Wednesday at the Summer Ridge Apartments complex, 250 Summer St.
Initially, several units were called to the address for a report of smoke in the building, but after arrival, it was determined to be a much more serious situation, the SFD wrote Thursday.

The SFD said a ladder truck from the nearby Cheshire Fire Department was called to the scene, along with units from Meriden and Bristol.
Firefighters managed to get into two apartment units at the site and found fire within the walls, according to the SFD.

"Fire suppression and overhaul operations were conducted which held the fire to the two units and limited further spread or damage," wrote the SFD.
Meanwhile, New Britain, Plainville, and Cheshire units covered for the SFD in Southington while Southington firefighters battled the apartment complex blaze.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated by the Southington Fire Marshal's Office.
