Vehicle Slams Utility Pole, Flips In Southington: Police

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A key stretch of Southington roadway will be closed for much of the afternoon after a vehicle struck a utility pole, and then flipped over Wednesday morning.

According to the Southington Police Department, police were called to the area of 1016 Flanders Road, Southington, at about 10 a.m., when they found an overturned vehicle on its roof.

Police said the tan SUV was traveling northbound in the area of Flanders Road and Laning Street.

The vehicle crossed over the double yellow line and struck a mailbox and utility pole then rolled onto its roof, police said.

The utility pole was snapped at the base as a result of the collision, according to the SPD.

According to police, the operator of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with suspected minor injuries.

As a result, Flanders Road is currently shut down in between Laning Street and Harness Drive and will remain closed for much of the day while repairs are made.
