Veterans Day 2023: What Is Impacted In Southington?
Southington recently announced the local impacts of the Veterans Day Holiday, which is Nov. 11, but it is being observed Friday, Nov. 10.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Veterans Day is Saturday, Nov. 11, but the town and schools are observing the holiday on Friday, Nov. 10.
As a result, the Southington Town Hall & John Weichsel Municipal Center will close at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, and remain closed on Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of the holiday.
In addition, Southington schools are closed on Friday, Nov. 10.

Veterans Day started out as "Armistice Day" on Nov. 11, 1919, to commemorate the end of World War I a year prior.
It has evolved into Veterans Day honoring all military veterans and Nov. 11 became a national holiday in 1938.
