Wandering Bear 'Tranquilized' And Removed From Southington Center
A wandering bear paid a visit to a bustling area of Southington on Thursday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A wandering black bear caused a little excitement in Southington Center on Thursday, police said.
Southington police and its Animal Control unit located the bear on Center Street, according to a report. It had climbed into a small tree off the side of the road and officers were able to redirect the bear out of the tree and away from Center Street, according to a report.
The bear was detained in a wooded area between Liberty Street and Columbus Avenue until a crew from the state Department of Energy and Enviroinmental Protection could respond, according to police.

The bear was then "tranquilized" and transported away from the area by DEEP officers, according to a report.
