Ruptured Southington Water Main Fixed, Service Restored: UPDATE
Southington Water Works Wednesday dealt with a situation that caused service losses and/or disruptions of water service.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Folks traveling and living in the area of Mount Vernon Road in Southington had to deal with the results of a water main break Wednesday morning.
But by early Wednesday afternoon, the rupture was fixed and water service was restored to normal.
Southington Water Works, however, said folks should run their water a bit upon the return of service.

"The crew has repaired the water main and the water is being turned back on," wrote the town's water department. "Be sure to run your water to remove any sediment or air in the system."
According to Southington Water Works, the water main break was near 580 Mount Vernon Road.

As a result, water customers in that area experienced low water pressure on Wednesday morning.
The town's water department mobilized a response team to that area and customers did temporarily lose water service, officials said.
Affected areas, they own said, were between Sandra Lane and Prospect Street.
