Southington's Water Main Project, The Latest Impacts
Water main work near Southington Town Hall will hamper egress of motorists looking to utilize the handicap entrance starting Monday.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Water main replacement work on one local street starts Monday, May 8, and it will impact some looking to access Southington Town Hall.
Though located on Main Street, Southington's town hall facility is accessible via Academy Street, where the town hall's handicap entrance is located.
Because of replacement work of water mains on Academy Street, however, those who have to park on Academy Street to access town hall's handicap entrance will not be able to exit Academy Street to Berlin Avenue, town officials said Thursday.

They will, however, still be able to park near town hall on Academy Street, town officials said, but they will have to exit a different way.
"The top half of Academy will be blocked off due to the construction," wrote the Town of Southington. "Residents will, instead, need to turn around in the housing authority parking lot. The construction is anticipated to last 8-10 weeks."

Meanwhile, the ongoing water main work townwide will continue the week of May 8-13.
The town this past week listed 95 different town roads that could see some disruptions in water serveri the week of May 8-13.
The Town of Southington Water Department said customers should check their water for any discoloration before doing laundry, adding any discoloration is temporary and to be expected.
Listed street impacts are not in any particular order, the town said, and completion of the work and impacts is dependent on weather.
