Wheeler Sponsors STEPS Parents Engagement & Recognition Event at Hawk's Landing May 7th

PARENT ENGAGEMENT AND RECOGNITION EVENT

As the close of the school year is upon us, Southington Parents Raising Healthy Teens, a committee of STEPS Coalition of Southington (Southington Town-wide Efforts to Promote Success), is ready to celebrate their year round accomplishments, i.e. , promoting a safe and drug free community for all children and families, while recognizing the importance of parent volunteer and leadership efforts. The group will hold a special evening event, at Hawk’s Landing Country Club, on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM.

The event includes an informative exhibition, a wonderful dinner buffet and an exciting program. The event is free of charge to all Southington parents, but space is limited and registration is required at https://www.ctclearinghouse.org/Registration/events.asp?FormId=41

James F. Spallone, Connecticut Deputy Secretary of the State, will deliver the keynote address on the topic of civic engagement and parent leadership. This topic is of paramount importance for parents in planning their proactive role in the lives of their children, now and in the future.

Southington Parents Raising Healthy Teens is a partnership of STEPS Coalition of Southington and Wheeler Clinic. Also known as the STEPS Parent Committee, the group focuses on reducing underage drinking, educating parents about the Connecticut Social Host Law and increasing awareness about safe prescription storage and disposal, including the Permanent Medication Drop Box initiative.
