Winter Team State Championship History: Southington High School

SOUTHINGTON, CT — As practices for high school winter sports officially get underway across Connecticut Monday (girls basketball, ice hockey and wrestling) and Thursday (boys basketball, indoor track, boys swimming and girls gymnastics), hopes run high for all teams to achieve the ultimate goal: winning a league championship, and possibly a state title.

To help squads get into the championship mentality, here is a listing of the 16 CIAC winter team titles won by Southington High School in past years (* - indicates a co-op team).

• girls gymnastics (8) - Class L: 2015, 2014, 2013, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005
• girls basketball (7) - Class LL: 1993, 1992, 1989, 1988, 1987, 1986, 1982
• wrestling (1) - Class LL: 1978
