Woman Charged In Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Southington
One person died and his wife incurred serious injuries in the January accident in Southington.

Alyssa Marin, 25 of Hartford turned herself into Southington Police this week, and has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle after she allegedly hit two people with her vehicle, police said Friday.
The incident in question occurred on Jan. 3, 2015 at around 3 p.m. on Laning Street west of Doral Lane.
On that date the Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving two pedestrians on Laning Street west of Doral Lane.

A pedestrian, Garrett Costello Sr. died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision, police said. A second pedestrian (Garrett’s wife) Cindy Costello also suffered serious injuries in this collision, police said.
The warrant alleges that due to the inclement weather conditions on the day of the accident and the fact that Marin failed to maintain safe tires on her vehicle, she lost control of the vehicle, failed to stay to the right and was subsequently involved in this accident, police said.

Marin was charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, unsafe Tires and failure to drive right. Marin was released on a $5,000 bond is due to appear in Superior Court, Bristol on May 11.
