Woman With Children In Her Car Facing DUI Charge After Head-on Crash

The woman is accused of drunken driving with children in the car, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A woman who hit another car head-on with two children in the car is now facing a drunken driving charge, Southington police said.

Police on Monday announced the Feb. 15 arrest of Bethany Duguay, 37 of Southington. She was charged with driving under the Influence, two counts of risk of injury to a minor and failure to maintain a proper lane, police said.

Duguay was released on a $3,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at in Bristol Superior Court on Feb. 27, police said.

Officers were dispatched to intersection of Curtiss Street and Riverside Court on Feb. 15 for a motor vehicle collision, according to an arrest report. Duguay was operating her vehicle westbound on Curtiss
Streey and failed to negotiate a curve, according to an arrest report.

She crossed over into the opposite lane and struck an oncoming eastbound vehicle in the front end, according to an arrest report.

At the scene, Duguay exhibited signs of being under the influence, did not pass standardized field sobriety tests and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

At the time of the accident, Duguay had two children in the vehicle — ages 3 and 5, police said. The children were taken home from the scene by a friend and they were not injured as a result of the accident, police said.

A referral to the state Department of Children and Families was made in this case.
