SOUTHINGTON, CT — A 36-year-old Massachusetts woman was charged in connection with a three-vehicle crash over the weekend after police said she was driving drunk with a baby inside a BMW she was driving.

Connecticut State Police Monday said Elizabeth Callow Silva, 36, of Weston, Mass., was charged with operating under the influence of alcohol/drugs with a child in the motor vehicle; risk of injury to a child; and second-degree reckless endangerment.

According to the state police accident report released Monday, the baby girl — aged 1 — suffered minor injuries and was in a rear-facing, child restraint system.

According to the accident report, several people involved in the three-vehicle accident suffered minor injuries.

Police said a 2010 Toyota Corolla being driven by a 64-year-old Waterbury man was traveling west on I-84 in the right lane of four near Exit 28 in Southington.

Meanwhile, according to police, a 2016 Honda Pilot being driven by a 20-year-old Waterbury woman was also traveling west on I-84 in the right lane of four.

That's when the 2015 BMW X5 being driven by Silva, "for an unknown reason," slammed into the rear of the Toyota, prompting the Toyota to "spin out" and collide with the rear of the Honda, according to the report.

Silva's BMW — as well as the other two vehicles — were all towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

The operator and passenger in the Toyota were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury for minor injuries, as was the driver of the Honda, police said.

The baby girl was rushed to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford with "minor injuries," police said.

According to the accident report, Silva — the operator of the BMW — "was found at fault" for the accident and charged.
