Woman Scuffles With Cops During Incident in Southington

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A woman has been charged with several crimes for head-butting a cop, among other actions, while in the midst of a tirade, an arrest report indicates.
Ar 12:20 a.m. on April 28, Janice Romero, 30, of Pittsfield, MA, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, interfering, and four counts of assaulting a public safety officer, police said.
Romero was released on a $10,000 non-surety bond.

Early in April 28, Southington police received multiple 911 calls from neighbors along the the 300 block of Marion Avenue reporting that a man and woman were arguing behind a residence, a report indicates.
As officers were attempting to interview Romero and the man, Romero who appeared to be intoxicated, became uncooperative and began running around the residence, police said.

Officers attempted to handcuff Romero and she actively resisted, according to a report.
Romero was handcuffed and placed in a chair, but then stood up and appeared as though she was
going to attempt to kick an officer, according to a report.
As she was being placed in back in the chair, Romero swung her head backward and hit an officer in the face, according to a report. Romero then had to be physically carried from the residence to an awaiting ambulance, police said.
While on a stretcher, Romero spit on a Paramedic and kicked two other officers, a report indicates.
Romero was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.
Romero and the man were in an argument and during the argument, Romero allegedly assaulted him, causing a laceration, a report indicates.
