Utilizing a department-issued laser, the trooper clocked Sadiku going 126 mph in a 65 mph zone in the left lane of two, police said.

"In response, the trooper positioned their cruiser behind the BMW and initiated their emergency lights and siren to effect a traffic stop," wrote police in a release issued Monday.

Police said the driver complied and pulled over onto the right shoulder.

According to authorities, the trooper approached the vehicle and located a male driver and two passengers inside the BMW.

"The trooper began speaking with the driver who stated he did not have his license on him, instead providing the trooper with his U.S. passport," wrote police.

When he was asked how fast he was driving, Sadiku told the trooper that he was going 80 mph, police said.

Sadiku told the trooper that the BMW was a rental he had just picked up from West Hartford and was on his way home, according to police.

Based on the trooper's observations and the potential risk in which Sadiku placed his passengers, Sadiku was taken into custody and brought to Troop H, said police.
