Work Moving Along At Southington's Memorial Park
Playscape work is nearly done at Southington's Memorial Park.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Work to improve the playscape at Southington's Memorial Park should be complete by the end of this month, recreation officials are saying.
The topic was part of the Sept. 3 Southington Parks and Recreation Board meeting.
The word was delayed slightly by Tropical Storm Isaias, according to the minutes. Workers, though, "are committed" to finishing the stone pillars and the Rotary Playscape arch by the end of September, officials said.

A ribbon cutting is tentatively scheduled for the first week in October, officials said.
A fountain is also slated for Memorial Park. The work can be done in-house, but some electrical work is required before installation and the pond is currently too dry, officials said.
