Work Stoppage Orders Issued at Southington Site

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The state Department of labor has issued stop work orders to seven contractors working at the site of the Courtyard by Marriott on West Street, the Record-Journal reported.

The hotel is located along the 1000 Block of West Street.

According to the labor department definition, stop work orders are issued to companies that “knowingly misrepresent employees as independent contractors” or to "companies that provide incorrect information to insurance companies on the number of employees in order to pay a lower premium."

The hotel site was approved in 2016.
