Would-Be Underwear Thief Caught Between Cars at Southington Plaza: Police
He was also trying to steal ties and T-shirts, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Torrington man has been arrested for a shoplifting incident in a commercial district in town, police said on Friday.
On Oct. 14 at 4:22 p.m., the Southington Police Department received a call from the TJ Maxx store at 875 Queen St. reporting a Shoplifting in progress.
Officers were advised that the suspect left the store and fled on foot towards Shop Rite and he was hiding in between cars in the parking area, according to a police report.

Officers located Robert Teck, 47, of Torrington, hiding between vehicles and he was taken into
custody without incident, police said.
Store loss prevention staffers reported that Teck was observed selecting two packages of T-shirts, four pairs of underwear, two neckties, and a leather belt, according to a police report. Teck allegedly concealed the items in his jacket and exited without paying for the items, according to a police report.

Store staffers approached Teck outside the business and Teck tossed the merchandise on the ground and fled on foot, according to a police report.
The items stolen were tallied up to $156.91, police said.
Teck was charged with sixth-degree larceny, police said. Teck was released on a $3,000 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Nov. 21, police said.
