Young Southington Boy Found Safe, Reunited With Family: Police: UPDATE

The Southington PD said the 11-year-old left home on Labor Day on his bike and never returned home.

SOUTHINGTON, CT —A frantic search for a missing 11-year-old boy who left home on Labor Day ended in the best possible way Tuesday afternoon.

Southington police said the boy was found on a walking trail in nearby Cheshire Tuesday afternoon.

"He is currently being reunited with family members," the Southington Police Department said in a statement issued at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said a "concerned citizen" on the trail contacted Cheshire police, who responded and stopped the boy.

Police thanked the public and the local media for releasing information on the missing boy, saying it played a role in his safe return.

Before his disappearance, the 11-year-old was last seen leaving his residence on his bike on Labor Day.

He had not been seen or heard from since he left his residence.
