Academic Honors Accorded to College Students From South Windsor

A number of South Windsor college students have earned great honors during a very trying academic semester.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Here are some recent notable academic accomplishments by college students who reside in South Windsor. The information is provided to South Windsor Patch by readMedia Newswire.

Assumption College, Worcester MA

  • Assumption is honoring 80 students who have been recognized with departmental honors, special awards, and Augustine Scholarships, academic awards for those who excel in their field of study. Katheryn Kruzick, Class of 2020, of South Windsor, received the departmental award for graphic design.

Belmont University, Nashville TN

  • Three South Windsor students achieved the Dean's List at Belmont University for the spring 2020 semester. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C. Honorees from South Windsor are Sarah Caye, Samantha Gonzalez and Lucia Palladino.

Cornell University, Ithaca NY

  • James Bonzani of South Windsor, a freshman at Cornell University, made the Dean’s list for fall 2019.

  • Fifteen Eastern Connecticut State University students were inducted into Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME), the national honor society for mathematics, this spring 2020 semester. Among the inductees was James Calvert of South Windsor, a senior majoring in Mathematics. Inductees must have junior or senior standing, obtain at least a B in Abstract Algebra and Real Analysis, hold an overall GPA of at least 3.0, and at least a 3.3 GPA in higher level mathematics courses. Students were celebrated for this achievement via an online ceremony that included video messages from President Elsa Nunez and Carmen Cid, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.

Nichols College, Dudley MA

  • South Windsor residents Adam Wolejko, a Management major, and Taylor Patitucci, a Sports Management major, were named to the Dean's List. In order to be included on the Dean's List, a student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for at least 12 undergraduate credit-hours and must have received no grades below B- during the semester.

Plymouth State University, Plymouth NH

  • Timothy Lessard of South Windsor has been named to the Plymouth State University President's List for the spring 2020 semester. To be named to the President's List, a student must achieve a grade point average of 3.7 or better for the spring 2020 semester and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester. Lessard is a Communication Studies major at Plymouth State.

University of Vermont, Burlington VT

  • Kyle King, Class of 2020 from South Windsor, has been named to the dean's list for the spring 2020 semester at the University of Vermont. King is in the College of Arts and Sciences. To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

  • Dr. Mary Schoonmaker, Director of Western New England University's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, announced the recipients of The Harold Grinspoon Foundation Spirit Awards. Each spring, faculty from the greater Springfield area universities and colleges nominate students who have demonstrated entrepreneurship through their endeavors at school. These awards are traditionally presented at the Grinspoon Spring banquet, which was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the Western New England teams receiving Spirit Awards was One Step Tile, a passive energy tile, created by Mechanical Engineering and Business students Madeline Dugan of South Windsor, Faith Cordes of Newburgh, NY, and David Thomas Gonzales of Washington, MA.
