South Windsor PD Releases Info On Arrests

South Windsor police said one case involved an alleged impaired driver and others involved retail theft.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — South Windsor police on Monday publicized several recent arrests, including an alleged DUI stop on Sullivan Avenue and multiple shoplifting cases tied to Target.

The arrests announced April 20 involved one South Windsor resident and three women from other towns, according to a police news release.

Police said John E. Malin, 54, of South Windsor, was arrested April 16 at about 8:10 p.m. after an officer saw a vehicle traveling on Sullivan Avenue without its headlights on. During the stop, police said the officer believed Malin was under the influence of alcohol.

Police said Malin agreed to field sobriety tests and failed them. He was taken into custody, processed and released on a $2,000 non-surety bond, and was scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 4 at 9 a.m.

In a separate case, police said Sophora A. Mantlik, 46, of Coventry, was arrested April 17 at about 2:52 p.m. after officers responded to Target at 125 Buckland Hills Drive for a reported shoplifter in custody.

Police said it was determined Mantlik did not pay for about $285 worth of merchandise. She was issued a misdemeanor summons and was scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 6 at 9 a.m.

Police also said two women were arrested April 18 at about 5:42 p.m. after officers were called to the same Target store for a report of two women allegedly concealing merchandise and trying to leave.

According to police, Lourdes M. Colon, 21, of Andover, allegedly attempted to steal $542.19 worth of merchandise, while Jenna L. Thompson, 19, of Hebron, allegedly attempted to steal $268.93 worth.

Police said Colon was issued a misdemeanor summons on a fifth-degree larceny charge, and Thompson was issued a misdemeanor summons on a sixth-degree larceny charge. Both were scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on May 6 at 9 a.m.
