Police said Peters was transferred to South Windsor police custody from the Manchester Police Department where he was processed and released on a $2,500 non-surety bond.

Several hours after he was released, police said officers responded to Target at 125 Buckland Hill Drive on the report of a shoplifter-in-progress who was taken to the loss prevention office.

Police said officers identified Peters as the suspect. He was accused of stealing $149.54 worth of merchandise and was taken into custody, according to police.

Peters had already been trespassed from the store, police said.

Peters was charged with two counts of sixth-degree larceny and one count of first-degree criminal trespass. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
