South Windsor Summer Spot Opens This Weekend (patch.com) — South Windsor residents can start cooling off at Veteran’s Memorial Park Pool as it opens for the season this Saturday, with season and new monthly passes available. Passholders get perks like discounted swim lessons, early weekend entry, free special events, and reduced guest rates, making it easier for families and friends to enjoy the local pool together.
2. Sports Training Facility Moving Ahead In South Windsor (patch.com) — A new indoor youth cricket and multi-sport training facility is moving forward at 140 Commerce Way in South Windsor, following Planning and Zoning Commission approval. The Ganisshan Sport Training Facility will convert an existing industrial building into about 8,000 square feet of turf lanes, fielding zones, and strength areas, offering year-round practice space for cricket, baseball drills, pickleball, and badminton.
3. South Windsor to pay $11K legal fees for Town Council member in election dispute (middletownpress.com) — South Windsor’s Town Council has voted to cover $11,400 in legal fees for Council member Richard Balboni, tied to an ongoing lawsuit over last year’s municipal election and charter changes. Councilors backed the payment on the town attorney’s advice but voiced concern that Balboni hired his own lawyer first, prompting calls to tighten rules on when officials can commit town funds for legal representation.
4. Lucky Connecticut convenience store sells $100K scratch ticket (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A South Windsor resident just claimed a $100,000 top prize from the Connecticut Lottery’s Fabulous Fortune scratch-off, bought at Quickstop Convenience in town. While the winner’s identity remains private, the local store now gets bragging rights for selling the lucky ticket, putting a small spotlight on South Windsor in the statewide lottery scene.
5. Missing South Windsor resident found dead at Selden Neck State Park, officials says (newstimes.com) — A resident from South Windsor who had been reported missing was found dead Thursday along the shore of Selden Island near Selden Neck State Park. State environmental officials say there is no apparent criminal aspect or public threat, and the medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. Authorities first responded to a Chester marina during the search.
