SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — An Avon man was arrested Tuesday after police said he struck a pedestrian with his vehicle in South Windsor earlier this year and left the scene.
South Windsor police said Kulwant Singh, 75, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, on an active arrest warrant.
The charges stem from a May 2026 incident in the area of 1451 Ellington Road, where police said Singh was driving when he struck the left arm of a pedestrian who was walking on the side of the road.
The pedestrian suffered a minor injury, according to police.
Police said the investigation determined Singh knew he had struck the pedestrian but did not stop to check on him.
Singh turned himself in at police headquarters and was charged with evading responsibility and failure to exercise care to avoid a pedestrian, police said.
He was processed and released on a $1,000 non-surety bond. He is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Monday, July 27.
