SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A South Windsor man was charged with driving under the influence after police said they spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed Wednesday night.
John M. Montana, 22, was arrested around 9:45 p.m. July 15 near Sullivan Avenue and Troy Road, according to the South Windsor Police Department.
Police said officers tried to locate the vehicle and determined its operator had turned off the vehicle's lights in an apparent effort to avoid contact.
Officers later located the vehicle and identified Montana as its driver, police said. During their investigation, officers believed he was under the influence of alcohol.
Montana consented to standardized field sobriety tests and failed them, according to police. He was charged with reckless driving, operating under the influence and failure to display lights.
He was released on a $2,500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Aug. 3 at 9 a.m.
