SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — The South Windsor Health Department will treat storm drains, catch basins and other standing water around town as part of its annual mosquito-control program.
Applications are expected between July 17 and July 23, weather permitting, according to the Health Department’s announcement.
The work is intended to target mosquito larvae before they become adult mosquitoes, helping reduce mosquito populations and the potential spread of mosquito-borne diseases.
The department said it will use Vectolex Bts, a larvicide that specifically targets mosquito larvae. Treatments will be applied directly into storm drains, catch basins and other standing water where mosquitoes breed.
Residents with questions can contact the South Windsor Health Department at 860-337-6182.
