• South Windsor Fire Marshal Retires After 20 Years, Heads To Florida (patch.com) — South Windsor residents are seeing a major change in local fire safety leadership as longtime fire marshal Walter Summers retires after two decades of service to take a new role in Naples, Florida. Summers helped shape investigations, building plan reviews, and capital projects that supported the volunteer fire department, while also influencing statewide fire safety policy through the Connecticut Fire Marshals Association. A replacement for his South Windsor post has not yet been announced.
   

• South Windsor family fosters dogs rescued from Iran war (nbcconnecticut.com) — A South Windsor resident is fostering three dogs rescued from the Iran war, connecting them with soldiers who served alongside her son. The pups came to Connecticut through the nonprofit Paws of War and will be placed with local veterans, including her son, who just returned from nine months in the Air National Guard.
