• Local Event: South Windsor Apple Fest 2026 (patch.com) — South Windsor residents are invited to the free Apple Fest on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, running 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the John J. Mitchell Fairgrounds on Brookfield Street. Expect over 100 vendors, food trucks, kids' rides, live entertainment, and signature apple treats, and consider bringing a non-perishable donation for the South Windsor Food Bank.
   

• South Windsor Restaurant To Close After 44 Years (patch.com) — Lena's Restaurant & Bar on John Fitch Boulevard in South Windsor will serve its final meals on Saturday, Sept. 26, ending a 44-year run in town. Owners cite ongoing kitchen staffing challenges, and longtime customers are being thanked for supporting the family-founded Italian spot that has fed multiple generations since 1982.
